On Monday we welcomed 500 campers for the first day of iBIO’s STEMfamily Virtual Summer Camp, a free virtual camp that offers hands-on experiments that are designed for the whole family to enjoy and investigate.
Throughout this week the 500 campers from Illinois and 23 other states will explore a range of STEM fields and careers. Camp topics include food science/nutrition, electrical engineering, agriculture, polymer science, bioengineering and chemistry.
In addition to providing generous financial support, Abbott, Astellas and Horizon, three prominent Illinois-based life sciences companies, provided content on STEM careers and participated in panel discussions. These companies not only recognize the critical importance of early outreach to developing STEM talent and encouraging diversity in the STEM workplace, they also are providing resources and expert presenters to make the camp successful.
