Working with Senator Elgie Sims and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, iBIO introduced SB1608 to update and modernize Illinois’ SBIR State Matching Program. The bill passed unanimously out of the Senate, and was supported by Illinois research institutions and a number of our partner organizations. Unfortunately the bill was not called in the house revenue committee due to the bandwidth of the committee (they had too many bills to pass). DCEO was successful in identifying a funding source for the SBIR Matching program, we will continue to work with the house and DCEO to pass this legislation next session.
